A few weeks ago I decided to replenish my stock of carded wool. So off I go on a road trip to visit Barb at Tally-ho. Tally-ho is a family owned business, on a farm in Central Otago NZ, that washes and cards fleeces.
Mostly I use the wool from the NZ Romney Sheep, but on this trip Barb showed me the fibre from the Gotland Sheep, and I was hooked! The Gotland first arrived in NZ in the 1980's. Originally from the island of Gotland off the coast of Sweden. Gotland wool is fine, long, and lustrous. It comes in varying shades from pale silver to dark charcoal (but no white!)
I really enjoyed spinning this fibre!
